Bird & Branch Design

Bird & Branch Design

Hi, I’m Renae

Hi, I’m Renae

My passion is helping business owners tell their stories through design, elevating their visual identity and helping them to connect with their dream clients (and feel confident and aligned to smash their biz goals!)

I spoke with two business owners this week who had invested thousands into their website builds… but had no idea how to make even the smallest change. They couldn’t update a photo. They couldn’t change their opening hours. And that’s a problem. Your website should belong to you. Not just legally, but practically. You should feel confident making simple updates if you want to. Adding a new service. Updating your pricing. Adding photos to a gallery. Fulfilling orders and changing inventory. Not every business owner wants to manage their own site, and that’s completely fine. But you should have the option. You should understand your platform. You should have access. You should feel empowered. The right platform isn’t the fanciest one. It’s the one that suits you. Your skills. Your confidence. Your capacity. Your business. Because a good website isn’t just beautiful. It’s usable. And it puts you in the driver’s seat. — Bird & Branch websites are designed to be both beautiful and approachable, so you always feel in control of your own brand. The @thelittleflowershopallora chose Squarespace for their website platform. Easy to create new products, manage orders and make simple changes, but powerful with in-built SEO and email functionality. If your current website feels confusing, locked down, or intimidating, it might not be the right foundation for your next season of growth, so let’s chat!

Queensland’s Darling Downs has a brand new florist, just in time for Valentines Day! Welcome to The Little Flower Shop, a boutique florist nestled in the heart of Allora, Queensland, created for people who love meaningful flowers, thoughtful gifting, and supporting local. I had the privilege of creating this gorgeous little brand, taking inspiration from the flower stalls of Pairs, with a fresh modern twist. Servicing an often forgotten area of the Darling Downs, @thelittleflowershopallora is about connection. To people. To moments. To community. You’ll find a warm welcome, thoughtful service, and flowers made with heart every time you walk through the door or place an order online. Because beautiful flowers shouldn’t be a luxury reserved for big cities. They belong in small towns too. They’re still taking orders for Valentines Day, so check out their website (made by yours truly) or pop into their lovely store! 🌹 @thelittleflowershopallora

You don’t need to reinvent the wheel every time you create something for your business. If every new post is a different trending Canva template, and you change your fonts like millennials changed their ringtones, listen up! Creating from scratch every time you post, pitch or present isn’t just exhausting, it’s quietly eating your time and brain space. Instead, invest in high-quality, on-brand templates. You’ll create faster, feel more confident, and build powerful brand recognition through consistency. Because when your audience recognises your work before they even see your logo, that’s when trust kicks in… and trust is where the magic happens ✨

Telling your Brand Story doesn’t have to mean telling your life story

  • June 3, 2024

During a discovery call this week, I had a client mention that she has seen all this talk about ‘telling your brand story’, but doesn’t really want to talk about her kids or the fact that she’s a mother- in fact she wanted to separate her business so that she wasn’t thought of as a ‘mum with a side hustle’ and be taken seriously within her field.

And I’m here to tell you that weaving the story of your brand throughout your message (be it via visuals, website copy and socials) doesn’t equal telling your life story and broadcasting your private life for all to see.

???????? Your brand can be personable without giving away private details.

???????? Your brand can talk about its founder’s journey and motivations without mentioning your 3 kids, husband and pet llama. (Tho I would personally LOVE to hear more about the llama!) ????

???????? Your business can show what makes it unique and why customers should place their trust in you without you giving away the details of your next holiday destination, or the fact that you do cross fit on a Friday.

Basically, there are no rules- you can give as little or as much away of your personal life and still have a brand that has personality and is relatable.

Because it IS important that your brand has those things- it’s how you gain the trust and loyalty of your customers, and stand out from other businesses also competing for your ideal client’s attention.

Want to learn how to weave your story into your brand? Shoot me a message!

  • I’m not usually one for choosing a word of the year, but this year moved at the speed of a freight train and before I climb back on for 2026, I felt a strong pull to pause and set a few intentions for how I’d actually like the year to feel. Spoiler: significantly less chaotic. So when the lovely Jodi from @meraki_visionboards invited me along to her very first Vision Board workshop, I didn’t hesitate. From the moment you stepped into her beautiful space, everything felt considered and calm. A delicious cocktail on arrival, tables layered with magazines, papers and quotes, gentle guidance throughout and the most incredible canapés appearing at all the right moments. It was an evening of intention, connection and quiet reflection… the good kind that stays with you. I can’t recommend these workshops enough. Whether you’re dreaming up a future home, mapping out your year ahead, or simply giving yourself permission to create, it’s a really special experience to do solo or alongside friends. Go and give @meraki_visionboards a follow. Jodi has January dates open, and if you’ve been craving a reset, this is a beautiful place to start. And my word for next year? Space. For breathing. For the things that light me up. And for doing absolutely nothing at all.
  • Bird & Branch Design is officially signing off for the year. Thank you for trusting me with your stories, ideas and brands in 2025. I’m so grateful for every project, conversation and collaboration this year. I’ll be taking a short Christmas break and will be back from January 5th, recharged, inspired and ready to create! I hope everyone has a safe, restful and joyous holiday season. Renae x
  • So you’ve got a brilliant brand strategy and visual identity… now what? Well now, you have the building blocks for everything! ✅ Your Website ✅ Social Media ✅ Marketing And the best part? You’ll have consistency and won’t be scrambling next time you need to produce content for your business. For The Educator’s Burrow, @thehumanelements and I completely overhauled Annalise’s website using the foundations we created, and now she has a framework to build on (and is using brilliantly- check out her socials!) @theeducatorsburrow @birdandbranchdesign @thehumanelements #wordpresswebsite #brandstrategy #rebrand
  • So much of a brand lies beneath the logo and colours. It is a veritable iceberg of personality, goals, values and vibes. The foundations begin with properly understanding your audience, their desires and frustrations, and then discovering the personality behind your brand- and how it will interact with its ideal customers. Once we understand these things, only then do we start on the visuals. The Educator’s Burrow draws on Miss Honey and Zoe Foster Blake’s personality and vibes, and the final visuals are fun yet gentle, optimistic, and creative - appealing to educators who value individuality, charm, and a little bit of sparkle in their everyday classroom life. Feel like your brand is lacking personality and strong foundations? My 2 Birds, 1 Brand package with @thehumanelements is what you need! #brandspecialist #logoreveal #australiangraphicdesigner

I’m not usually one for choosing a word of the year, but this year moved at the speed of a freight train and before I climb back on for 2026, I felt a strong pull to pause and set a few intentions for how I’d actually like the year to feel.

So much of a brand lies beneath the logo and colours.
